Week 1 - Introduction and Open Source Software Concepts

In this week's lecture the class goals and structure were introduced, an illustration of an application that brings together the technologies covered in the course was provided, and a brief overview of the development model and concepts associated with Free/Open Source Software were discussed.

This week's lecture covers the interaction of PostgreSQL/PostGIS with other applications, including OGR utilities for querying, importing and exporting data, and interactions with GRASS GIS that include importing data, establishing a read-only connection to the external database, and visualization of the imported or external data.

Week 16 - GRASS Vector Where Clauses and Other OS Applications

This week's lecture revisits the display of GRASS vector data, this time addressing the use of where clauses to differentially symbolize subsets of a single dataset. Several other Open Source applications of interest are also introduced.
